About The Boat
The Heritage 18' is a rowing skiff designed and built in Gainesville, FL by Little River Marine. With a long and narrow beam, the sliding seat rowing skiff is uniquely and ideally suited for the rigors of the Miami 2 NYC Challenge. The unsinkable fiberglass boat has a fine entry which enables it to be easily propelled at approximately 5 miles per hour with modest effort. Unlike a rowing shell, the Heritage 18' has sufficient volume and freeboard to be at home in any water conditions whether it be the protected Intracoastal or the open expanses of the Chesapeake Bay.
The Heritage 18' will be my home for 50 days. Its volume will allow me to carry all of the the gear and provisions I will need to be completely self-sufficient. With the addition of a canvas dodger over the bow, I will have a weather tight enclosure to sleep in when I am not able to sleep ashore.
The Heritage 18' has been used for many epic adventures including a row across the Baltic Sea from Sweden to Germany. I'm confident it will provide me with a safe, comfortable, and efficient platform to complete the Miami 2 NYC Challenge.
I'd like to offer special thanks to Little River Marine who have generously sponsored my row by preparing and provisioning my boat with the necessary features to ensure my journey is a success.
