The John P. Musante Health Center
Many of us may be surprised to learn that in Amherst, Northampton, and surrounding towns in western Massachusetts, thousands of our neighbors go without appropriate health care every year. Obstacles include cost,
residency status in this country, and homelessness.
The new John P. Musante Health Center (JPMHC) will address this critical need by providing an estimated 2,700 patients with accessible and affordable health care each year. This will include approximately 10,200 primary and preventive medical and dental health care visits annually.
The JPMHC will be a satellite location of the Hilltown Community Health Center (HCHC). With much cooperation and support from the Town of Amherst, HCHC has secured a site on the lower floor of the Bangs Community Center in downtown Amherst. Plans are underway to begin a major renovation in May (the month Jim will begin his row) for the space that will allow them to meet the critical health care of those most in need.
The Campaign for the John P. Musante Health Center has brought a group of dedicated volunteers together to raise $2.4 million for the costs associated with renovating, equipping, and funding this new center to keep it operating strong. An astounding 88% of the $2.4 million has been secured.
We call on the continued generosity of our community to close the fundraising gap to make the JPMHC a reality now!
