Yesterday was turning out to be a nice day as Jim set off from his lovely private sand island until his boat's structural cross beam broke! Luckily, his parents were still nearby in Lighthouse Point and were able to deliver a spare part which Jim used to repair the boat. After a two-hour delay, Jim pushed on to make his 30 mile goal before sunset. He stopped to make camp on a beach on Pecks Lake shortly before 8pm. This morning, after being harangued by a raccoon for a good portion of the night, Jim set out for Fort Pierce to complete another 30 miles. Imagine his surprise when he met Amherst, MA resident Jonathan O'Keeffe's dad on the water in his own boat!!! Jack O'Keeffe lives a few miles from where Jim camped and had been tracking and staying up-to-date with his journey through his son Jonathan and Stephanie O'Keeffe. What a great way to start the day, resupplied with Gatorade and goodies!! Thank you Jack for the very nice gesture. Visit Jim's miami2nyc.com Facebook page for a short video from Jack.
